As you can imagine a lot of our work is in grade 1 or 2 listed buildings and conservation areas, from our experience the rules and regulations vary from borough to borough and it is certainly worth checking what you are permitted to do in regards to your windows and doors with the local planning office.
Often in conservation areas it can be the case that windows are allowed to be changed on a like for like basis using the same material (timber) but upgrading the glass to double glazed units, in some Grade 1 and 2 listed buildings the original windows and doors must be retained with only the minimal amount of original timber removed for necessary repair and double glazed units not permitted.
Where windows are not allowed to be changed we offer an overhaul draught proof service and have options for bespoke timber secondary glazing.
Once you have confirmed what is permitted we can help by supplying technical drawings for approval and by using our experience we can offer the best solution including slim line discreet double glazing, structural glazing bars and separate double glazed units and many options of thicker single panes of glass including acoustic noise reduction and single glazed security options.
